Flagler Lifeline was created in January of 2018 as part of the Flagler Suicide Prevention Planning Committee’s effort to develop a comprehensive, countywide approach to suicide prevention. One primary task the committee focused on was creating an inventory of national, state, and local resources to prevent suicide, increase help seeking and increase access to mental health services and supports.
If you are concerned that someone might harm themselves or others, you can dial 911 to request that a law enforcement official be sent to assess the situation. Law enforcement can determine if the individual at risk should be screened for an involuntary hospitalization, called a “Baker Act”. At that time, the individual could be transported to a local or regional Crisis Stabilization Unit.

People can call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org for themselves or if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. 988 offers 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing mental health-related distress. That could be:
SMA Healthcare Crisis Response Team (All Ages). Offers an on demand face to face response, meeting onsite at homes, schools or wherever the crisis is occurring. SMA Healthcare Crisis Triage and Treatment Unit and Flagler Access Center. The SMA CTTU and Flagler Access Center serves self-referred individuals for screening, triage, and referral for mental health and substance abuse. This unit works in alliance with local hospitals and law enforcement agencies to ensure safe transport of Baker-Act clients to the designated receiving facility. Address: 103 E. Moody Boulevard, Bunnell. Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Halifax Health-Child & Adolescent Behavioral Services (Youth). Families can bring children under age 18 to Halifax Health-Child & Adolescent Behavioral Services for free screenings Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. without an appointment. Baker Act screenings are prioritized so you can call ahead to find out how long the wait might be, 386-425-3900. Address: 841 Jimmy Ann Drive, Daytona Beach. Screenings are also available at the main hospital in the Pediatric Emergency Department on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Address: 303 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach.

SMA Healthcare’s Chet Bell Center (Adults). Individuals can go to SMA Healthcare’s Crisis Center for crisis services, 24/7. Address: 1150 Red John Drive, Daytona Beach, FL 32124. Additional information can be obtained through the SMA Access Line at 800-539-4228.
CAIR Center at Flagler Health+ (All Ages). Individuals can receive a mental health crisis assessment, referral service and assistance with connection to a long-term provider. 24/7. Address: 300 Health Park Blvd., Suite 1008, St. Augustine.
There are many behavioral health resources in our community and region. Below are good options to explore when you consider seeking care for yourself or others.
Flagler Cares. Flagler Cares’ Behavioral Health Counselors can assist individuals with gaining access to mental health services and substance use disorder treatment. They can also help navigate mental health coverage for most insurance plans to help find in-network providers. We also have onsite services at HEAL Recovery which offers Medication Assisted Treatment and Certified Recovery Peer Specialists. Services can be initiated by completing a request for help, calling 386-319-9483 or visiting 160 Cypress Point Parkway, B302, Palm Coast Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All services provided by Flagler Cares are free of charge to the client.
